Local Area Networks
Local area networks are typically wired and wireless solutions, allowing files and data to be shared among computers within a relatively small area. The local area network can also serve as a bridge to your internet connection, allowing all of the computers on the local network to have internet access through a single internet connection. Wide Area Networks
Wide area networks are similar to local area networks, except that instead of connection multiple computers together, a wide area network connects multiple local area networks together. In order to implement a wide area network, a service provider (such as Cable and Wireless) usually needs to provide a dedicated link between each of the locations.
