Today is 1/30/2021, for at least the past two and a half years my father has been working full time at Hubbell Industrial Controls Division in Archdale North Carolina. He is very proud to be their lead Electronics Service technician for a product line of Hubbell called Metron.

The
Metron product line
manufactures Fire Pump Controllers of all types here in the United States. When
water pressure goes down below a set pressure value, these large red metal
control panels make a big motor start up to pump extra water needed for
emergencys. The controllers are UL and NFPA approved. Look up what those mean
for you because I am not sure, except that they are tested and approved to be
used in industrial applications like emergency equipment to save peoples lives
and property. My Dad and myself both aspire to be Engineers, we have been
creating inventions together for as long as I can remember. Whenever my Dad
brings schematics home, he will take the time to show us how to read them. I
enjoy trying to trace the circuits with a pen to figure out what is going to
come on or switch. My favorite drawings are always the IO Hookup drawings. These
IO drawings show how to wire the customer inputs and monitoring outputs of the
controllers operating condition. Machines talking and creating servers are
exciting for me, so it sort of all came together as a homeschool project and now
(Work Yearly Objective for my Dad at his job). With our
Electron
RAP program anyone can monitor their fire protection systems with Electron
fast notification, even control through Internet or Intranet. The version that
we have in distribution now is setup for Intranet. This configuration may be the
most secure option for industrial and private applications. We are hoping
Hubbell can someday use our program to save lives world wide so we are making
this for them. 
Now I am 15 years old, trying to get into college. Maybe someday when I am
18 Hubbell could allow me into their apprentice program to work as an Engineer
with my Dad saving the world with our inventions.!

The Internet version that we have created is actually better in my opinion. Internet, (WWW) access allows Txt. and E-Mail messaging. For this version we are now working on an added camera feature to be used with an SR501 PIR sensor. (Sort of real time Motion detecting Pump Room-RAP monitor.)
Our
hopes are that someone can use this program & hardware configuration to save
lives with fast as light Electron speed notifications; hence the name. If
you know of anyone who can use this or anything like it let me know. We know that the best reward for a job well done is to
have done it.!

Warning, this Remote Access Panel electronics and software module is intended to be connected by only authorized technicians to approved electrical dry contacts. The microprocessor inputs and outputs are not to be connected to live or powered curcuits. High Voltage electrical panels can kill or cause serious injury. Relay contacts, normaly open without power on the curcuit work perfect as digital inputs. Because the inputs are digital they can go high on occasion from EMF or other surges so we incorporated a 11K Ohm drop down resisitor. For long wire runs to any of the RAP's 20 inputs, a lesser value say 10K Ohm resistor could be substituted and everything will work fine. The Electron Remote Access Panel program and hardware was design intended to be self contained small and easy to setup yet packed with functionality. After researching and some diliberation we chose the older 3 B+ Raspberry over the faster Beagle Bone due to the more accomodating Inputs/Outputs, Audio for the local Alarm, Wireless for convenience yet capable of Wired network connection for use in locations like basement pump rooms etc. The hardware platform is not NFPA or UL approved but industry standard and proven to be very robust, redily available and most of all affordable. We utilized Python and flask for server services, hardware functionality with RPI.GPIO library, SQLite for the database, HTML for browser viewing and operator control, CSS for styling and Javascript for the dynamicallly created elements like the logging on the display, LED's and special functions like (Diesel Engine controllers with an Engine Lockout feature to disable a Remote Start while Locked out). To accomodate both computer browser and mobile device operation we did make slight modifications to resolution and scaling of the viewport perspectives for mobile devices. Functionaly both Computer and Moblile Device versions are identical and seamless operation is to be expected.The update rate is currently 200 milliseconds, selected to monitor for continious network connectivity, switch de-bouncing was not required.
